Ferropolis
'Ferropolis City of Steel' peninsula, site of the former Grafenhainchen
strip mining operation in Germany. Some of the largest industrial machines
from the mid twentieth century dominate a water front venue overlooking
the now flooded coal field, where once small villages lay. Now a desolate
landscape, the overseers named 'Mad Max', 'Mosquito' and 'Gemini' attract
environmentalists and D Jays alike. The scene of 'Melt' one of the largest
pop music festivals in Europe. The surrounding land is now being converted
back to nature.
