The founder and owner of the company spent his formative years in fine art, design and architecture in his native England. Edwin graduated from Saint Martin's School of Art in London.

His interest in gardening stems initially from the influence of his parents, both keen gardeners themselves and his love and appreciation of the English landscape tradition.

Edwin has lived in the United States for 35 years. In 2011 Edwin incorporated his business under the title bgiB.inc
